Postcard from Steamboat Springs

What a beautiful state Colorado is. Have to do a tiny bit of work on this laptop and then going out to explore and breathe the mountain air. Tomorrow we have an early start, 7:30 A.M. winter driving instruction in classroom begins. By 8:30 we head out for the Wilderness Course: On-road mountain driving with professional driver in GMC with us. There will be about 20 journalists/media people here. Larry Hoff is from Connecticut and does a syndicated adventure TV show. He has ridden a bull, been shot out of a cannon, flown a plane. Are you ready to put the pedal to the metal tomorrow? he asked. He and his cameraman, Kevin, were cracking me up on the ride from the airport. Um, I think I'm ready. I hope I'm ready.

I liked seeing horses and an old barn and a river and pretty mountains on the drive from the airport. And I liked the men in cowboy hats who were there as we got off the plane, and the cookies and mini candy canes that were served inside the terminal--to welcome us.

More later.

  1. Ate just half of that almond croissant for breakfast at Newark Airport this morning. Threw half out; it wasn't worth the calories, anyway.
  2. Got nuts for a snack in flight.

  1. Wow, sometimes your job is just SO cool! I've never been to the resort places in Colorado, but it must be great this time of year. I want to hear all about the driving class. I've got two teens with learner's permits, you know. Plus, I bet you can take all kinds of Christmas-y photos to post here.

  2. Hi Nan. Thank you for the note. I do love this part of what I do....though press trips are generally pretty heavily scheduled. Also am a tad bit nervous about taking the wheel. I'm sure it will be OK. And my Figgy is 16; we're supposed to be signing her up for driving lessons. You have two with learner's permits...wow. thanks Nan. alice
