Leaves

Walked with my friend Elly and saw the leaves, then raked up sackfuls at home.

Met with the man whose life story I'm writing.

I say again, how can something that is dead or dying be so lovely? Of course, I know the answer. Even if he is up in years, the man has a rich and vivid story to tell, with brights and lights, with a wink of the eye, hearty laughter, crystal-clear details. And even if the leaves are finished, ready to crumple, they make their exit tirelessly, with a stunning flourish.

We won't soon forget them.

Good night.

  1. Walked almost an hour @ Brookdale Park with Elly.
  2. Raked almost an hour.
  3. Logged in @ myfitnesspal.com. BTW, I like the way you get exercise credit there for raking lawn or cleaning house.
