Milly, Lilly, Tory: Size Us Up!

Let's hear it for the girls. The curvier ones.

This is a shoutout to designers I love, on the contemporary floors at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. Please, make bigger sizes! Not everyone who loves your chic designs can shimmy into a size 14 or under. Why should we be deprived just because our bodies are naturally well-padded?

Milly
See that Milly sweater, pictured above?
A. I wouldn't have been able to buy it unless it was on sale.
B. It runs small--the large isn't very large. And why can't Milly please make an XL? The line is so feminine, so original, so I'd-feel-like-a-million-bucks-wearing-Milly. If I ever could. For now, I have to settle for my gorgeous Milly beach bag.

Lilly
I love my Lilly Pulitzer. But it seems that 16s are hard to find these days, and I don't think anything larger than 16 exists. Lilly's saving grace: XLs in sweaters, tops and more. Many lovely Lilly shoes seem to stop at size 10.

Tory
Tory Burch, thankfully, has XLs in really cute cardigans, tanks and more. And, an ample supply of shoes up to size 11, which is great. But the fitted pieces [with zippers, waistbands, etc.] go up to 14. That ain't right.

I don't like feeling deprived, and this makes me feel deprived. I want what I want when I want it.

  2. you know what my absolutely new favorite thing to do is -- go to this vintage shop i bklyn that specializes in plus-sizes. do you have time on the 30th? if not, we can plan another day for that. that would be so fun. it's very subway accessible and we could do lunch around there.
