Only on the Cape is the air this fresh and clean.
Only on the Cape can I see a coyote crossing Route 6 West in my headlights at night, right near Log Cabin Farm [which is shuttered for the season]. I could only tell the coyote from a dog because he/she was collarless, and loped along in a different, long-legged way.
Only on the Cape can I drop Figgy off at Coast Guard Beach for an hour with her sketchbook and pencils.
Only on the Cape can I hike at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary with Anne and young N. and see beautiful birds, fish, chipmunks, turtles, a slimy green frog and awesome nests. While N. walked around modeling my Lilly LeSportsac bag--which looked really cute on her.
Only on the Cape can the sandy soil be carpeted with pine needles, so cushioned that I can't hear my Nikes hit the ground.
Only on the Cape can we see the special composting toilet at the sanctuary.
Only on the Cape can I work at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow.
Only on the Cape can I drive around a traffic circle they call a rotary.
Only on the Cape is our house without an internet connection, a land line, and clear TV reception.
Only on the Cape do we pull out Monopoloy and Jack Straws, and dominoes, which N. and I played. Except we didn't know how, so we made up the rules.
Only on the Cape.
