Lanterns in the Sky

Nothing big to report. A nice Fourth at a party with a silver vase of blue hydrangeas from Patsy, pulled pork, salad made from Peter's garden, Paige's homemade blueberry-peach pie [she grew up in Kansas, a detail I love] and margaritas :) Once darkness fell, the kids started chasing lightning bugs, and our hosts lit little white candles.

We were back in our neighborhood, back with our friends. Before we left, H. turned to the top of the hill and peered at the sky.

"Look how bright that planet is," he said. It glowed strongly in the deep velvet sky.

He's always loved studying the stars and planets. He has shown me the Northern Lights [on a nighttime drive to Maine], Mars and more. I appreciate his celestial wisdom.

Tomorrow: Boot camp, then flesh out article proposal and get some new flowers to perk up planters on terrace. Also, back to book.
