Plowing through

Plowing through, plowing through, one step at a time. Have to clear the snow so we can walk. So life can go on--mail carrier, UPS guy, neighbor, dog. They have to walk the path to your door.

You have to do what is practical. You have to dig a path.

Yes, the snow is heavy to lift, but it's pretty and pure and promising, too. It's not all work.

Have to clear the clouds so we can see.

Have to be careful about black ice--looks like nothing, but you can lose your balance, spin and really get hurt.

Have to have foresight. Look ahead. Wear boots and hat and scarf and mittens and layers and lip balm, to protect yourself, so you can make that long walk and not bow to the cold. Not let it stop you, freeze you out.

That's why God invented mittens. And mothers. And aunts, and friends.

H., Sug and I visited Dad today. I brought him some of my triple chocolate walnut biscotti. He was glad to see us. I told H. I wanted to walk home. It's a quick drive, but took me almost an hour to walk in the snow all the way along North Mountain Avenue to Bellevue Avenue to Valley Road.

Will feel so cozy to huddle under a fleecy blanket now. I don't really like Mondays, but....oh well.

Good night.

  1. Some days the plowing is very hard, some days it's just annoying and some days you just fly through it. Hope you fly through it today :) Love, Lin
