| We've been driving a lot lately. I realized yesterday, after popping this into the CD player in the CR-V, that this man has most definitely cushioned life's road for me, with his words and music. |
Candy Girl. I had planned weeks ago to see my friend Madonna [I nicknamed her Candy years back, and I'm the only one who calls her that] b/c she was in the city for two days...she now lives hours away in upstate NY. We met at noon at Goodman's Cafe on the Bergdorf Goodman Beauty Level, and had chopped salads and cappuccinos. Our offices are no longer across the hall from each other, like they were for years at Good Housekeeping, so we had A LOT to catch up on over lunch. I hadn't seen her in almost two years. My dear friend has three little children now, lives in a farmhouse and is a successful freelance writer. I continually marvel at her.
Bus-driver wisdom. Poor guy, I was sitting right behind him, and right next to a pregnant woman, and fell sound asleep and started snoring loudly. I know, b/c my snores woke me up with a jolt sometimes. The man across the aisle was glaring at me.
Valley Road, please. I said sheepishly when I pressed the buzzer and got up.
How are you doing tonight? the driver asked.
Me? I was surprised he was striking up a conversation with a woman who a.] made all that noise snoring and b.] looked like a tired wreck in gray.
Pretty good. Sorry I was snoring so loudly.
That's okay, you probably had a long day.
Yes. How are you doing?
Glad to be in the race, he said with a smile as he opened the doors for me.
I like that. Good night.
Good night. Please watch the ice.
Cat Stevens! Sis drove me around in the 1970s with Cat on the eight-track player. I got a new CD at Starbucks. I love it. Thanks, Cat, and thanks, Yusuf. Favorites on the Starbucks CD, shown above: Father and Son; Miles from Nowhere; Oh Very Young; and Morning Has Broken.
Lilly Pulitzer spring catalog. It came in the mail, and it's awesome. Such color, such beauty, such jewelry, such sandals.
The Milly department. Take the elevator to 5 @ Bergdorf's. This designer is absolutely incredible on the style scale. Most everything is out of my size and prize range, but I still loved looking at and touching the beautiful designs and fabrics....and totebags are one size fits all [through quite pricey]. I can dream of sales ahead.

That's all for now. The waistband of my tights is digging into my stomach after 12.5 hours, my face needs washing and I need to rest. The poor dog hasn't had a decent walk in days, but that's for tomorrow's list.
Angels, angels, come our way. Glad to be in the race.

Good night.

I really like the bus driver wisdom. Somehow it seems especially meaningful right now. "Glad to be in the race." Have a good night and a good tomorrow. Love, Linda
