Rub-a-dub-dub, I Have a Clean Tub

Now my tub is clean enough for people and toys.
This is a far cry from my posts about luxury chocolate and cashmere sweaters. But I bought a bottle of Soft Scrub with Bleach today and wanted to report how proud I am that I got my tub sparkling clean.

How 1950s is that? It's not that my self-worth depends on how shiny my floors are or how white my tub is [but wait, why am I saying my tub, not our tub?]. But it did feel demoralizing that our brand-new Kohler tub was dingy, like something in a bad motel that I personally would not want to shower in.

It has that adhesive stuck-on, no-slip design, so you don't need a bathmat. But I couldn't keep that part of the tub clean--not with Mr. Clean or other bathroom sprays. H. tried one day, too, and no luck. I thought we couldn't use anything too abrasive, but then I remembered the salesman saying something about Soft Scrub, which I used today with a vengeance--and a scrubby, and hot water.

Best $3.39 I've spent in months. It really did lift my spirits. What can I say. Plus, it means I can luxuriate in a bath in a fresh clean tub tomorrow. Things are looking up. Link: http://www.softscrub.com/.

Another really nice thing is that I met my friend Anne for brunch at Raymond's on Church Street in Montclair. It was so good to see her; I miss her. We've both been quite busy. I had the giant cappuccino [yum] and poached eggs on grits with Grafton Cheddar. Double yum. Anne insisted on treating, though I kept pushing my twenty toward her. Triple yum. That was very gracious and kind. And it was having that twenty in my pocket after brunch that freed me up financially and philosophically to stop on my way home for the Soft Scrub and a few red tulip bulbs, even though it was pouring rain out and I had to dodge in and out of the car.

So I thank you indirectly, Anne, for my clean tub. And your friendship. One cannot underestimate the power of getting out of the house and meeting a friend for coffee and a chat.

Good night.
