One little container lasts Sug for two nights, and costs 99 cents [80 cents on sale]. |
It hasn't always been this way. For the first eight and a half years of our marriage and for a few years more recently, I worked full-time on a payroll, with benefits. H. has always freelanced at home, except for a brief stint as a medical reporter in NYC when we first married--so we could both consistently save to buy a house, and get a mortgage.
I'm confident we can find a way to figure this out.
But tonight, we were down to eggs, milk, bread, veggie burgers, protein shakes and assorted odds and ends. We had organic greens, and frozen shrimp, and a tomato, so I made a salad and had cottage cheese on the side, with some pecans on top. It was only okay--more like a rummage sale. H. actually passed up my delightful repast in favor of a PB & J, a bowl of cereal and a yogurt, eaten later on.
I fished through a baggie of change to buy Sug a container of dog food and two Dannon plain cups. Total bill: $2.56.
Better fed days ahead, I just know it. Good night.
TCOY
- Short bike ride with H. on beautiful day--along Norwood, around little Sunset Park and back again.
- Walked Sug around block twice.
- Shampooed, accessorized.
- Hung wash out to dry in sunshine [on wood drying rack].
- Brought ice water on car ride.
- Stared down Devil Dogs @ supermarket! And brownies, and refrigerated Toll House cookie dough.
This is hard, Alice. I've been doing some work this year after several years off, and we still don't seem any further ahead than when I wasn't working at all. Frustrating.
ReplyDeleteYou've been on my mind ... I'm still sending up prayers.
