Mission: Impossible--Ghost Protocol

We just went to see the movie as guests of H.'s brother Mike and his wife, Therese, who own the old-time* Colonial Movie Theatre in Belfast--it turns 100 this year. It is so cool and nicely restored. So good of M. and T. to let us in gratis, along with our nephews Taylor and Kyle.

The movie was longish, but the music was great and Tom Cruise is looking really, really handsome. His hair. His muscles. His ruggedly chiseled face. The way he sprints like an Olympian in a tailored suit, and scales the side of a sleek skyscraper wearing hip safety glasses. The female lead, Paula Patton, is also gorgeous.

I like the phrase: Mission: Impossible and would like to adopt it for parts of my life. :)

TCOY
  1. Hot tea at the movies--not candy.
  2. Short walk but at least got to see bay from High Street.
*The ticket prices are old-time, too: Adults & teens, $8; people 65 and older, $7; children under 13, $5. Matinees and bargain nights, all seats, $5. And the snacks also cost a lot less than in NJ.

  1. I do not share your enthusiasm for Mr. Cruise however...I wanted to say thank you for sharing in 'Dad's gift' featured in Coastal View how 'a father teaches his family to honour the past while living in the present'.
I very much enjoyed your writing! We live on a tiny island off the Pacific West Coast and I love the ocean! It is my grandmother I credit with my need to hear the waves crashing on the shore...Born and raised on the shores of the North Sea, she needed the sea air or like a mermaid out of water would have died...
Best wishes for 2012 to you and yours,

  2. Hi Noelle....thank you so much for the note. I'm so glad you liked my essay, and I love hearing about your grandmother, and about you living on a tiny island off the Pacific West Coast. How wonderful that sounds. And I love what you say of your grandmother: "She needed the sea air or like a mermaid out of water would have died...." Thank you for sharing those thoughts. Happy 2012. Sincerely, Alice Hurley
