Today we drove to the shore to see our friends. Punch was thrilled to play with the young lady of the house--Claire, age 8, and to try and coax Claire's cat out from under the chair and bed. The girls swam in the pool with H. and did other fun things, like examine the empty trap in which Claire's dad has been trying to catch a clever garden-eating groundhog but has instead so far captured a possum and a kitten [separately].
We sat with Laura and Chris, Celia and Greg. It was relaxing. And we had promised Punch we would go to the beach, so even though we didn't get there until almost 8 P.M., we went. It was so pretty. Striking sunset. Squishy jellyfish strewn on the sand; I liked showing them to Punch. She and H. scooped some up, one by one in a seashell, and threw them back into the water. And I found a little black mermaid's purse, a.k.a. skate egg case, and gave it to Punch. Figgy was enchanted with those when she was little, too.
Bedtime for beachgoers. Punch is back home with her Mommy, so we are free to be us. Figgy took the train from Grand Central this morning to spend time with her auntie and uncle overnight. She sounds happy.

- Support group. But baring my soul is hard work; feel vulnerable.
- Slept in car while H. drove us to Spring Lake.
- About to take my daily vitamin before I forget--again.
Alice, vitamins are tricky! ;-) My little girls both take meds and we have found that the pill strips that older adults use are really helpful. I decided to take my vitamins seriously and put them in a small one-a-day-strip, which I keep on the breakfast table. It's helped make me more compliant.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really fun day, the kind which are all too rare. Punch really keeps you young!
ReplyDeleteI agree on the vitamins or meds - how hard can it be? Really hard! For me, the problem is there is no immediate feedback, unlike taking tylenol or advil for pain - you know whether you've taken it or not because of how you feel. So, being me, I got an app to remind myself, and I get nagged (one "ding" and then a persistent visual cue) until I check it off.
Thanks for being so faithful in posting. I read almost every day, and I'm cheering you on for the bike ride in particular, but usually I read on one of my little devices (vs. computer) so its hard to comment.
Love, Nan
Hi Kim....that's a good tip, because here i am now, at midnight, and still have not taken today's vitamin. but am about to. so glad you're back. missed you. Hi Nan...thank you for reading, and especially for cheering me on with biking, because it is hard...wow, you are something, with that app to remind you to take your svitamin...i love that. i am seriously considering getting an iphone if i can and maybe i can get used to cool apps like that, too. good night, Kim and Nan. love alice
