First day of jury duty wasn't bad....I breezed into a free parking spot....then it turned out my friend Amy from boot camp was in the jury pool, too, and we had hours and hours to talk in the lounge, since neither of us got called for a case yet...that wide window of time led us to discover that we both grew up in Dumont and went to Dumont High School, one year apart of each other...Amy was close with my cousin Annie, who lived down the block from me....what a small world.....we had a lot of the same favorite teachers [Ms. Gilbert for English, Ms. Puzio for biology, Max Konigsberg for earth science] and I remember Amy's younger sister.
The cafeteria was mediocre....tomorrow I plan to bring a big juicy orange with me to have with the lunch I buy.
Aside from that, some hard emotions under this roof.
Good night.

- Bought rainbow chard and a bouquet of fresh spinach. Amy gave me a good breakfast idea--eggs scrambled with spinach and feta--and I plan to have it tomorrow.
- Walked Sug around block.
- We watched "The Graduate" tonight. Great jewel made in 1967.
I may be nearly alone in loving jury duty. Pulled out of your routine, forced to mix with others, a chance to do your patriotic duty while loving your neighbor as yourself... Magazines and a bag lunch make it at least as enjoyable as airplane travel.
