Horse Whisperer

The horse's name is Hollywood.

H. texted me this photo with the message, Hollywood, Punch and Julia Roberts.
I'm pretty proud of myself--and of Punch. She was misbehaving on the school bus--screaming, taking her seat belt off, that kind of thing. She's never been in school--let alone on a yellow school bus--before.

So I decided to drive her over to the horse stable at Garrett Mountain one day when she got off the bus. I told her that if she could behave better on the bus, I'd sign her up for a lesson. We headed over, met lovely Megan [sp] pictured above, saw the horses, the hay, the barn, etc. She was enthralled. She loves farms and living things, from furry caterpillars to tigers. Her first lesson was Tuesday; H. took her. She even got to groom the horse. This morning, H. asked the bus driver how it was going and she said fine. Good girl, Punch.

Good night.

  1. Good job, Alice! The positive reward system is the best. And good job to Punch, too. She looks so cute in the riding hat and the instructor really does look like Julia Roberts:) Love, Linda

  2. Such a great idea-beyond even a fantasy for your littlest girl. Animals are so good for the troubled-my girl and I are volunteering at an animal shelter where our job is to play with the dogs and cats to socialize them and make them more adoptable. Even when at her most hostile when we go, afterwards she is smiling and calm.

    You are doing great.
