My Beloved Cape

My heart is heavy over a new family development. I had relished the idea of writing about all the beautiful things we saw and did today but my proverbial lifeboat crashed at about 9 p.m. with a stream of sad texts. Can't go Into detail.

Before that, it was a sky-blue day. We saw seals and a plump swan, crows and a turtle. Minnows and clamshells, whale bones and pine trees, tidy cabins and New England saltbox cottages.

The ocean at Chatham Bars Beach was a stunning tonic and we loved driving the winding road there [Route 28]. The night sky was a painterly gift, the gift we get for driving 300 miles from home to this sandy curved peninsula.

Here are some snapshots of Nikki and Punchy and my friend Anne [Nikki's mom]. Good night. May God bless us all and hold us in the palm of His hand.
