Admired my beautiful pale yellow beeswax taper candle from the Belfast Co-op, its flame flickering against the kitchen granite while I spoke to Sis on the phone.
But when I bent over to blow out the red votives below it, the beeswax flame licked my hair and spread hungrily. I saw my reflection in the kitchen window. Scary. Grabbed a kitchen towel and swatted it against the flames. They went out. Lost a little hair and am left with a terrible burnt smell.
I take this as a sign that I better go to sleep, stop working out financial aid details for Fig's spring semester at Montclair State.
Good night.
Terrifying!
