A pianist is tickling the ivories gracefully. She's gifted. It's soothing. I'm having a nice day. It's our 25th wedding anniversary and H. picked a place in the city to surprise me for dinner. He won't tell me where, but I'm supposed to be down by E. 28th Street by 7ish.
I got my hair blown dry by my favorite, Christina, at 10 a.m. I did my makeup and put earrings on. I hopped the 11:40 bus to NYC and met my friend Kim for lunch and tea at Alice's Tea Cup on East 64th Street. Then we went to "headshot day," sponsored by Editor at Large, to get professional head shots taken. Anyway, 6:05 p.m and H. just texted and told me to start walking downtown. I have my comfy sneaks on, high heels in bag. More to come.
11:04 p.m,
The surprise was The Water Club, on the East River, with a table right by the window. Loved seeing the 59th Street Bridge while sipping a flute of Prosecco and savoring my first Lobster Thermidor. New York City is a big glittery gift. And I swear I never saw so many tiny golden bubbles rising in a single stemmed glass. It was like art.
Good night.
