Had a creative urge to make this pie today. To sift, mix, roll, crimp--and roast enough butternut squash chunks to fill my big blender pitcher.
Maybe shouldn't have come....I don't have money to squander now. I don't have a gift card! But I wandered into Neuhaus Chocolates near the front entrance and had a gold foil-wrapped sample, a dark chocolate covered praline heart. Then got a 7 oz. box of butter biscuits w dark chocolate. I'm hoping to tuck a couple in Punchy's snack bag tomorrow, and tell her they are from Belgium--a little cultural and geographical lesson with the luxe treat. As you can see, I go to great lengths to validate my indulgent purchases.
Figgy is back now. I used the time to check my emails, call my friends and Sis and review my bank balance.
And now I've blogged, even if briefly, so I can take a nice bath when I get home.
Okay, fasten seat belts, we're heading home. Oops, no we're not. I asked Fig to show me what she got and she opened the contouring kit and discovered she got the wrong color palette. So here I wait again, until she returns.
Good night.
TCOY
1. Boot camp in the park with my pals. After a winter indoors, felt refreshing to be out on the field again.
2. Latte with Sue.
3. Walked Sug around block.
4. Made Melissa Clark's "Un-Pumpkin Pie" with 2.5 lbs of caramelized butternut squash chunks, ginger, cream, good vanilla, more. I love her cookbook. I had a yen to tie on my apron and bake. I made the crust with almond and coconut flours because doing Whole Life Challenge and trying to avoid white flour, Belgian butter biscuits notwithstanding.
5. Short, rich nap.
6. Pretty productive at work desk and looking forward to another good day tomorrow.
7. It was Taco Night. H. made a nice meal with ground turkey, corn tortillas, spicy red beans and greens. Our avocados were gone since Fig had made battered and fried avocado earlier.
8. Met 10,000-step goal for day. Mall helped with that, strangely.
9. Warm bath and good dental care.
