Punchy turned 9 on March 11 but the first date that worked for her YMCA swim party was tomorrow. So today we got bday tiaras, noisemakers, cups, candy, paper plates and a birthday girl balloon to tie to her chair. Jonathan, the popular balloon man in town, suggested smallish beach balls to go along with the candy bags. So he blew up 15 of them, total charge 75 cents each! It pays to shop local.
The birthday girl requested chocolate brownies made from scratch instead of a cake. So be it. I'm making a double batch and we're ordering pizza and garlic knots w red sauce from Villa Victoria, our favorite pizza place, which also happens to be right next to the Y.
That's it. I hope it's fun. It's from 4 to 6 and then H. catches a night flight to Pittsburgh, where he will be until Friday for a NY Times Magazine assignment. I will be here, attempting to finish up my own assignments.
It was a busy day, starting with Punch's soccer game. Glad to rest now.
Good night.
You're sure hopping' these days, Alice. The party will be fun and happy belated birthday to Punchy. Love, Linda (I may have not commented recently but I'm still here, reading your blog every day.)
