Village People

Documentary or mockumentary? H. and I found it, and the star,
captivating. Image source HERE.
Punchy is w her mom overnight, so H. and I seized the opportunity to drive into NYC, eat at our favorite Village spot--Spaghetto--and then see "Weiner," the documentary about Anthony Weiner and his sexting scandals. It was good! Fascinating portrayal of his wife, Huma Abedin, an important adviser/aide to Hillary Clinton.

Then we shared a freshly filled cannoli from Rocco's on Bleecker Street and scuttled back to our car in the midnight rain. Rocco's closes 1:30 a.m.; I asked at the coffee counter.

Gnite.

1. Thanks in part to H. parking pretty far away from restaurant, I met my 5-mile step goal for the day.
2. Made morning mango superfood smoothie w chia seeds--not too tasty.

  2. Well...before we went to the movie, I googled and read the (very long) ny times magazine interview w them both from 2013. That is telling enuf. In the film, she comes across as striking (H. said beautiful but I would just say striking, with signature red lips); slender; extremely well dressed; and extremely well connected. I know she is very smart but I wouldn't say that brilliance came across, or had the venue to. Instead, we saw kind of a long suffering wife who stood by a liar not once but again and maybe again. It was humiliating. Their baby is cute. Weiner needed Huma again and again and by the end she had to say no to certain things. It's complex; she pulls strings for him w donors but then is pretty clearly disgusted. Very interesting portrayal of a high-profile marriage. Let me know what you think!
