I was in Maine Saturday, June 4 through Wednesday, June 8--four nights--to bring Figgy up there for her Belfast summer rental, which she loves. [TBH, Saturday and Wednesday each involved a 9-hour car trip, so only in Maine several hours each of those days.]
Wanted to share some photos--in addition to the ones posted from the
Inn at Ocean's Edge. It was a nice trip.
Would it be wrong for me to share that I still have not completely unpacked? That's me. I will choose to read a cookbook cover to cover rather than put away the sunscreen and toothpaste from my pink Hadley Pollet bag. Anyway, summer is here and more road trips on the horizon.....

Me and Fig on the 1 p.m. Tuesday ferry boat to Islesboro;
John and Pat Hurley work hard on
the island, painting a beautiful estate.
[As in exacting house painters, not portrait painters;
another brother, David Hurley, is a portrait and mural painter.] |
 |
Figgy, left, and her friend E., who came for the ride and visit.
Figgy swam twice in Maine waters in those first few days. |
 |
Maine's beauty is striking, and never gets old. |
 |
This cove is like paradise; it's over near a spot on
Islesboro where Pat Hurley
took his girls, our sweet nieces Anna and
Mariah, when they were small. |

Figgy, Pat Hurley and E. outside the Dark Harbor Shop.
Nice little luncheonette, store and soda fountain. |

TCOY
- H. overslept for his YMCA running club, so I got to go to my favorite support group meeting at 9:30 a.m. Because of his running club and Punchy's soccer season [over now], I've had to go on different days lately.
- Really delicious nap.
- I have been attempting to avoid spending too much, but did get the book Julia Reed's South. Tonight, I made the summer squash casserole and H. and I both like it a lot: does contain 8 oz. Cheddar, 1/2 cup cream and 1 stick butter, but made 2 big pans and also called for 2 lbs. yellow squash, 1 red bell pepper and 1 large onion. Vegs!
- Iced coffee and iced water.
- Took Sug for a nice walk.
****Fig has a fish tank and drew Punchy in it. Fig also named her pretty blue fish Punchy.
Love Maine, and loved reading your entry. Quite an artist there!
