But I'm reaching, off-kilter. I had a lazy vacation, except for lake swims [mostly lake dips] and easy walking. I didn't lace up my sneakers even once. I walked in Toms black canvas wedges or Tory sandals with pancake-thin soles. My calves hurt from doing some Belfast hills in those. So it felt good to put my sneakers on again and push around the park.
I must remember that exercise is good for so many parts of me: my heart; my muscles; my lungs; my weight; and not least of all, my spirit and spin on life.
Sadly, this is the second time after driving with family from Maine for 450 miles that I had a major meltdown when I got home. It was ugly, and I am ashamed. I can't erase yesterday's slate but I can clean the slate going forward and do my best.
I must remember that. And I think if I had tucked in walks along with brownies I might have been more even-keeled. It's just hard to make fitness a priority when your body craves a rest. Yet I used to try and start every vacation day w a walk.
Good night. Setting alarm for 7 a.m. support group.
