Our sweet friends from church had their second son 4 weeks ago! Today we went over with lilacs from our tree and banana muffins from our oven and got to meet him. Punch and I each held him. I loved that blissful time. He smelled so good in his white terry onesie and he looked like a perfect Gerber baby deep in his dreams. His parents are so kind and we are fans of his big brother, too, age 2, who brought out fruit leathers, fig bars and other healthy snacks for Punch and showed us all of his cool toys, like a light-up train track that he had placed around the baby's seat. This visit, this holding, is a memory to treasure always--the innocence and beauty of that sweet baby boy, of his brother, of his parents and of the 10-year-old girl cradling him. When a baby appears, the evils of the world retreat and all seems for good. Good night.
