Ladies Who Brunch

I can't remember the last time I was out for brunch. But today I had a leisurely meal with Kim, Nan and Liz at Supper in NYC. So nice to connect; so lovely to savor grilled polenta, prosciutto, a spoonful of Nan's hazelnut panna cotta. [Get that; best dessert.] Nan, Liz and I connected through following Kim's blog, which she started nearly 10 years ago--though I had met Liz once when she came to visit Kim in NYC 30+ years ago! Kim has been my friend since we were both in our early 20s, first magazine job.

It was a gift of freedom to spend a Saturday afternoon this way. Every spoonful, every sip, every stir of the teaspoon in the coffee mug, every glance at the menu--freedom and friends. Four hours! Listening and caring.

Signing off from Starbucks at the Port Authority. Time to board the #66 back to reality.

  2. It was so exciting to finally meet you! And it was so good to hear each other's back stories, and get a glimpse of the lovely, generous, fashionable, giving, private person behind this intriguing public persona. Not that real life you is so different than the person I meet here, but infinitely more complex and nuanced.

And it will be fun tomorrow at work to say, oh, not much, just lunch in New York with friends!

    1. Oh, Nan, such kind words. Thank you so much. I was delighted that you and Liz came to nyc. As you could tell, I take a lot of your words to heart, such as “keep throwing love at your children.”I am so grateful that you, Kim and Luz have been there for my journey, to catch my words. You are lifeboats, truly. I am so impressed w you, Nan, and your work and heart and brains. Love alice
