Saturday at the Appleton 🍎 Farms

Today my sister-in-law Sheila and I ventured into Appleton to see the lavender farm that supplies the lovely Lavender Store in downtown Camden. I’ve wanted to go for years! Sheila is a trained chef and gifted gardener of everything exquisite, from pink heirloom roses to red bee balm. We then drove to a couple of other farms--beautiful High Croft Farm with newborn lambs and goat milk soap that smells heavenly, and Deer Foot Farm, with a nice cafe. We loved the fresh lemon cream cheese, crisp, thinly sliced cukes and capers on the one bagel we shared w Duck Trap lox. Yum.

Here is Glendarragh Lavender Farm; check mainelavender.com. I have other great photos, including one of Sheila in her straw sun hat w pale pink scarf around rim, but taking forever to download and must rise early. We drive home tomorrow. Sweet, swaying lavender dreams.

  1. Couldn’t comment yesterday, it wouldn’t open, but it is brave the way you post. And The farm tours sound amazing, what a variety of experiences ME offers, I had no idea. Safer travels!

    1. Thanks, Liz . Does the other post open now? The farms—felt like we went somewhere far away for the day! Hope all is good. Xo

  2. Maine intrigues indeed. Looks so lovely, and homey. So good to have relatives there instead of, say, Carbondale IL. (I know, probably someone who reads this comes from there and loves it, but I stand by my comment.)

BTW Alice, I read every single day but commenting via ipad isn't working, right now on my laptop but that is rare for me.

    XOXO, Nan

    1. Nan I miss your voice!!!! And haha, “I stand by my comment.” You crack me up. As I said to another friend, Maine is so large and has so much beauty, it’s almost overwhelming, But Sand Beach at Acadia is a must. Xoxo. I hope you and yours are good.
