Happy Fourth πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ--Good, Bad & Ugly

GOOD

  • Got to 7 a.m. support group. Helpful.
  • Made the Nutty Granola recipe from delightful Bergdorf Goodman Cookbook.
  • Town parade! Cute & comforting for the most part [some political messages hard to grasp]. Our friends host brunch on their lawn, along route. Carol makes her special buttery pecan Challah French toast every year. I brought strawberries, granola and vanilla yogurt.
  • Spending time w freckled Figgy and her friends.
  • Dan booked nice cabin by Delaware River for me, him, Punch, Anne, Michael and Nikki one night, this Saturday. Affordable.
  • Catching up w neighbors at BBQ.
  • Racks of meaty, tender ribs--a rare treat.
  • Flowers in garden holding their own.

BAD

  • I thought bringing sweet fresh cherries πŸ’ πŸ’ would be good for neighborhood BBQ, but I don’t think anyone, including the four people in our family and Punchy’s friend, ate a single orb. They paled next to huge watermelon platter, blueberry pie, cookies and Paige’s smore layered brownies.
  • Regret not having a piece of that homemade pie with a scoop of frosty vanilla. Was trying to sidestep sweets. Had small bites.

UGLY

  • My big toenail is coming off and it makes a baby like me squirm. I stubbed my toe and also had a sketchy pedicure. Horror story.
  • Stiff neck. Not sure why but off to the races with thoughts that infection in toe is linked to meningitis. Took a Motrin.
  • Hot as hell.
  • When buying granola ingredients and other groceries at Whole Foods this morning, I was that customer who had $60 cash cap and had to put many groceries back, as I overchose. Older lady behind me, purchasing expensive cheese and other things, was not amused.

Good night to you.

  1. Oh, Alice! A day of real ups and downs!

I know at one of the last potlucks you went to you regretted not bringing fruit, so I know why you did he cherries. Right now, we had some that are really as good as baked sweets.

Sorry about the toenail. Yuck! And how embarrassing at the store.

But so glad you got spend time with folks- support group, parade and bbq!

  2. Do not fear Indian summer on Oct 5- NaN and I have central AC! And Peters high blood pressure keeps him running hot, so we are VERY indulgent.

BTW, If you want a preview of Oct 5, jump on mega bus and come down! I have feet issues too, so sorry about toe.

And fuck heartless lady in line, her job was to smile and wave off your embarrassment. Bet she stubbed her toe walking back to the car!
