I had a glass of chilled Chardonnay so doing a quick post now before it gets too late. Dan and I drove down to spend a night with Punch at Mimi and Poppy’s. Once off the NJ Turnpike at exit 2, the drive through farm country in South Jersey--so beautiful. Dan said it was like Wisconsin and I thought of Pennsylvania. We passed high cornfields 🌽 and potato farms. It was lovely.
About to sup on sweet white corn, grilled chicken, tomatoes, homemade bread.
Good to see Punchy,, little brunetti.
Good night.

So, I finished The Shack. I was not enthralled with the writing, which could be cloying, but I get why it is so popular. I don’t think I can explain it without sounding like a sex fetishist, but it is about the joy in submission, acceptance, leaving yourself open to joy. And while it has some rainbows and unicorns, it also dives deep on the traps we make in our own mind, the constructs we erect to protect ourselves, and then feel trapped by. And it is strict in demanding that we forgive others. And very appealing explanations of the nature of God. Glad I read it, much to think about.

Hi...I still haven't finished it. I was really into the beginning but am now finding it a little preachy and like I was baited with a good story and then it was used as an opportunity to preach to me. I like your description. I will keep reading it. Problem with me is I find cookbooks, like the Bergdorf Goodman Cookbook, distracting and enticing reads. Love, Alice
