Closing the Curtains on 2019

At times, the view was blocked with heavy, opaque drapes that you had to close with effort, with a pull cord [witnessing Sis go through mastectomy and recovery]. Other times, lacy sheers let the sun through [laughter with Moey and Fritch on high school reunion weekend, the call from Celia in October about the workplace needing a writer ASAP, and could I go into NYC?]. There were bird blinds, like the ones at the Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary, which let you spy on birds unnoticed [watching Figgy blossom into a confident young woman and scientist/artist and Punchy find herself --and her hair and skin products--as she approaches her teen years].

Clear, curtainless windows let you see things directly--your gifts, your gratitude, your strengths, your weaknesses [helpful in marriage and on a work team].

And stylish valances helped frame the view of fashion and beauty, superficial and not, from a tiny bird's yellow feathers to a lilac wool coat, good black tights, rich eye cream.

Closing our windows on the world for 2019. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2020.

TCOY

1. Walked 25 min to town and then back again with Punch and two friends.
2. Blowout--to end and start the years right.
3. Ice water.
4. Walked Sug and Buttercup around the block/up the hill.
5. Put on sparkly earrings for New Year's Eve, though didn't manage makeup and perfume.
6. Dinner with dear friends and a toast to a new view.
7. Raked and filled a bag of dark, damp winter leaves.
