Some project priorities changed at work, so this week, I will be home-based and for fewer hours--but using other [website/blog] writing muscles, so that's good.
I put too much pressure on myself, though, to hit the ground running here, just as I do at work. All in. It's a week with Punch dr visit; dental checkup; therapy; science fair; and my therapy appt. Dan also doing some ice-skate fitting appointment for our Christmas gift to Punch. When I'm working more than he is, Dan handles the appointments. But this week he is working more, so most are for me.
I think I like writing as part of a team in an office more than taking Punch to the dentist, as important as it is. I know it 's meaningful to show up for a child. To be present. I know she needs me, even if she pretends she doesn't care. But it's less fulfilling for me. I do not mean to insult any parent's choices when I say that.
Also, I despise Punchy's iPad dramas with girlfriends...the texting. It drives us crazy and causes angst. We put limits in place and they move. I see leaves, lots of leaves, that need raking and hauling. I wanted to make a mini version of Thanksgiving dinner tonite, because I'm home, and Punch loves that kind of food and what, am I crazy? Even roasting two turkey legs, making mashed potatoes, steaming veggies and having her open a can of cranberry sauce and a jar of gravy left many, many pots, pans and dishes.
We did enjoy the meal.
[Thanks for the supportive comments, Nan, Kim and Eileen. Worried about something else now re. Punch. Saying prayers.]
Good night.

Good night.
$ MONEY SPENT OUT OF POCKET
- Little Daisy Bake Shop. The daily parent email keeps calling for nut-free desserts for the Science Fair tomorrow night. Since this is a nut-free and superior bake shop, I went to select treats with Punch...and spent $40. Better than me baking and besides, my kitchen is not nut-free. This included red velvet cake pops with blue sprinkles [looked vaguely science-y, like world globes]; cut-out football and snowman cookies; and 4 fudge brownies, each cut into quarters.
- Barbara Eclectic, new Peepers reading glasses and two pretty hair clips to mix things up with my humble bobby pins, $47.98.
- CVS, doggy steps for Sug, $15.
- CVS, rxs, box of glittery Christmas cards at 75 percent off, Colgate whitening toothpaste, terrycloth spa hair band to keep hair out of face during baths, half-gallon milk, box Quaker cereal, $36.
- Joyist, another natural cleaning spray in blue glass bottle, which I love using, and 1 Greg drink, $32.
- Kings, two big turkey legs to roast, about $7.50.
total daily spend: $178.48.
running monthly spend as of Jan. 6: $856.56.
avg daily spend: $142.76.
