We woke up and the house was really cold. I had been keeping an eye on the red marker atop our oil tank in the basement. It was hovering at empty, but I hoped we could make it to tomorrow. We couldn't.
A fellow at JW Pierson Oil Company [in business since 1888, I learned today] picked up the phone when we called around 10 am. He reached Tom, who drove over straightaway and pumped in 50 gallons of oil. Then Tom came in to see if the burner kicked on. But it wouldn't stay on--which happened once before when we ran out of oil--so technician Dilip had to come over and prime it. We are nice and cozy now. #grace #gratitude #blessing
I didn't think we could get an oil delivery and a technician on a Sunday, especially because we had fallen behind on our bill while waiting for paychecks. I was embarrassed to call. My contact for billing is Judy, and she isn't in on Sundays.
So Dan called.

Fortunately, we received a payment Saturday, so we could put $500 on our card [more oil coming tomorrow].
I see angel wings sprouting on your shoulders, I said to Tom, but he was modest.
I have also noticed angel wings on my husband's shoulders.

Good night.

ReplyDeleteHi Eileen. Yes, thanks. Was getting ready to pack everyone, even Sug, up for Sis's in Connecticut. But then we would have had to leave by 6:15 AM today to get Punch to school on time. Love Alice
