- Clean underpants--a washing machine, dryer and enough detergent to keep the supply going.
- Dr. Teal's bath salts. Used last scoop today.
- Free shipping of Rxs from our local CVS to our doorstep.
- Salad I made with sliced roast chicken, avocado, tomato, English cucumber and vegan Green Goddess dressing from a bottle.
- Dan stepping up on domestic chores--cleaning the toilet, doing the wash and the dishes. I told him today that I was going off the rails.
- Coffee, coffee, coffee, in my pretty blue and white ceramic cup that I bought at Maman in Tribeca after having lunch there one day with my friend and former editor, Donna Bulseco. Stylish sipping.
- Watching Alfred Hitchcock's crisp, brilliant "North by Northwest," starring Cary Grant, in our living room. Loved it. Want to visit Mount Rushmore Monument in South Dakota.
- Working with a wise editor on a writing assignment. I had to scramble to get to the writing, saving brain space after home-schooling. So grateful that I had the mind space to craft sentences, polish details, play with words.
- Writing down the crap I ate this morning, in pen in a Lilly Pulitzer notebook--facing it, letting it go, putting it behind me. Ugh. I have been in an anxious eating frenzy, as though Punch's homemade peanut butter-chocolate chip cookies or two frozen waffles sandwiched with salted butter might somehow shield me from the ugly reality of coronavirus, the dead bodies piling up in our beloved New York City, the waves of illness spreading through senior care facilities, the thousands and thousands losing their lives in NY and NJ. In fact, the virus loves sugar, I heard. So cookies will not buffer me.
- Dan, Figgy and Punchy. We have big personalities in a small house, but I love their earnest qualities.
- Sis.
- Friends I call and text to check in. Moey, Jean Rose, Anne and Michael M., Celia, Rachael and Fritch come to mind.
- Sugar and Buttercup. These dogs are dear, loving pals who see us through good and bad times.
Good night.
