TCOY
- Talked to Anne and to Moey and Sis. And my friend Jean called to check in on me.
- Pruned back and front gardens a lot. It feels so liberating, like editing extra words from a flabby story. Letting the close-cut beauty show.
- Healthy foods today included oatmeal w fresh raspberries and pecans; roasted red pepper and asparagus; arugula salad. I skipped the fresh Italian bread my friend delivered with dinner, because it's hard for me to stop with that.
- Important phone call at 10:30 am for Punchy's health and well being.
$ MONEY SPENT OUT OF POCKET
- Donation to Toni's Kitchen in Montclair to provide meals for those in need during this pandemic, $50.
- Venmo to pay for 2 pizzas Thursday night, expensive, $42, counting tax. It's exciting. A neighbor arranged for a mobile pizza truck--Little Pizza Heaven--to come to our street and we order ahead and choose pickup time. We have assigned times from 4 to 7 pm for social distance, I guess.
- Instacart, Kings, Seventh Generation powdered dishwasher detergent [to avoid plastic]; 2 lb. bananas; vegan chocolate oat ice cream for girls; coffee beans; 1/2 gallon organic milk [I know, we drink so much milk]; Thai salad kit; baby Swiss cheese; Brie bites; ricotta cheese. Geez, that's an order high in dairy. It all began because we are out of dishwasher detergent, With tip, $60.72. Will arrive tomorrow, contact-free, between 1 and 3 pm.

Hey - I made the apple cake on Monday. Except that I used egg, it was exactly as you wrote, very little sugar. It was terrific - I ate the loaf (2 apples worth) over just three meals, warm from the oven and two breakfasts. (I had thought I’d be sharing with my vegan girl, but she didn’t act quickly enough.) It seemed a lot of nutmeg, as I was grinding it, but it actually was subtle and went well with the only slight sweetness.
ReplyDeleteI’ve got a couple more apples, so I might do it again, but with butter and an egg, and eat it hot with mascarpone. My difficulty will be portion control!
Nan
Oops - I did use egg substitute so it was vegan, but was thinking ahead as I typed.
ReplyDeleteHi Nan.Easy and good and healthful, right? So glad you made it. It would be great with butter, I bet. You could easily reduce the nutmeg if you want to. Sending love to Silver Spring. I think one of my ranunculus (sp)bulbs from Brooklyn is sprouting! A few others were dug up by animals but I put them back in the planters. Love Alice
