Veniero’s Since 1894 and Friends Since 1990

I haven’t been back in my beloved NYC since March 1–almost 8 months. That’s crazy. Dan has been back 4 times during the pandemic, one of those times for work.

We drove in for dinner outdoors in the East Village with Celia and Greg. Celia and Dan met 30 years ago at Medical Tribune. Then I claimed Celia for my friend, too (also Greg).

After dinner, we walked to Veniero’s, the beloved pastry place dating to 1894. I cradled my paper takeout cup of decaf cappuccino. Dan and Celia had pignoli cookies and we brought Punch a cannoli--a taste of classic New York--in a proper bakery box tied with a string.
