- I'm Alice and I've been writing for most of my life--first, in a little green five-year diary my friend Lorraine gave me for Christmas in 6th grade, then for newspapers, magazines, websites and companies. I've blogged here, often daily, since Feb. 2010, trying hard to write truthfully even when it's scary. My husband and I are now freelance writers, so sometimes still we can afford salmon for dinner and sometimes we can't. Our daughter (blog name Figgy) is an artist and scientist in cyanobacteria algae research. The teen we are raising as legal guardians but have loved as our own (code name Punch/Skippy/Spice/Spike) is in high school. Our days range from sunny to sad, successful, sweet or funny. ReplyDeleteThese people who feel so proprietary about mass are missing the point, and don't realize the harm they do. Will was a terror at church, and I do make a point of smiling at those with kids acting up. Of course Mass is for you, it is especially for you.

Liz, thanks. Will was a terror and such a nice young man now! It's funny, I guess they just hate it--somehow know it is something they have to do and don't want to. The rules, the rituals? Our Figgy stopped going at Confirmation age, and she still reminds me of the very terrible (nonChristian) things I said in reaction to that decision. I still mourn that loss. I know she is a good, kind, caring person nevertheless. LOVE Alice
