The Dance

It’s that dance of life.....we got the call last night, Montclair public schools closed today due to Nor’easter, which is indeed dumping many inches of rain here. That felt so great, to sleep late on a schoolday, a surprise gift. All warm and welcome and satiny.

The rain is seeping up from the ground under the basement but thank goodness, we have a sump pump and a French drain so not too bad so far. Still, I had to lift some things up from the floor to higher ground to avoid water damage--Dan’s lute case; one of his antique typewriters in its black case; Punchy’s rollerblades.

Then the dance continued...watching the rains to see if our weekly afternoon appointment for Punch would hold for today....in between her persistent yen to go to the mall with her friend during a dry patch....trying to fit in work that can get me more work (sending resume and writing samples)....revising an assignment...and thinking of pitches I should be sending, a post I have not written and a Medium story on my mind. Tying on an apron, doing dishes....ordering Chinese food for three that was only mediocre at best...attending a 10 p.m. Zoom support group....

the dancer is tired now.

Good night.
