BBQ Chicken & Grilled Corn

Sis & I took a short walk around Palmer Point. It was dark and starting to drizzle.
And there was Dad--back as a bunny. He stopped in front of us and
loitered long enough for us to jest with him. Sis hasn't seen a rabbit here before.
We may be crazy, but it feels better to think Dad is gone but not forgotten,
or rather that he is gone but has not forgotten us--that he comes back to check up, let us know he's watching.
Tonight, H. is working at a party, writing 60-Second Novels three hours from home, in Amish country--Lancaster, PA. Sis and Don took me along to their friends' place for dinner.

Margaret and Walter served crisp white wine, grilled chicken and corn, broccoli, salad, bread, Margaret's special smashed potatoes--which she insisted be topped with a little pool of melted butter on each mound, OMG, to die for--and a lightened cheesecake pie made from The Joy of Cooking. It was so delicious, and so different from the yucky ER shift last night. Margaret grew up in Ohio farm country, and told me she boiled the red-skinned potatoes in 2 cups of buttermilk and 2 cups of water until the liquid was absorbed. They were so good.

I am grateful that these four took me under their wing tonight. After, Sis and I took a little walk, looping around by the dock, where the many quiet boats are awaiting fairer skies.

Good night.

TCOY
