I'd love to be slimmer, calmer, more successful, more financially secure, in better shape and better dressed in 2012. Better organized and more punctual, too. I'd like to make more mindful food choices, like John and Leah [oatmeal with Maine blueberries; rainbow chard with tofu; baked sweet potatoes; mugs of tea], Patsy [healthy dinners] or even Figgy, with her crisp green apples and fresh fruit salad. I'd like to take better care of my skin and teeth. I also want to continue to be grateful for the goodness already in my life. I want to be healthy, and happy. I'd like to do more yoga, for balance and perspective. I'll shoulder on to be the best mother I can be, and the best partner, friend and sister--writer, too. Daughter no longer on that list.
I hope for the strength and the grace to see things through.
Best wishes to you for the new year.

- Salon blowout, to cross the threshold into 2012 with pampered hair.
- Walked Sug around block once.
- Nap.
- Toasted the new year with dear friends--the Mernins' house for dinner, then Paige and Gary's festive party, where the candles flickered, the champagne flowed, we all blew noisemakers and I made a midnight wish in a houseful of nice adults and their children.
