January 10th Sky @ Dusk

It was so pretty today at 5:30 P.M.. I was leaving an appointment in Montclair. Before I walked--like a robot, programmed to complete chores--to my car, opened the door, sat down and turned the key, I just stood there watching Mother Nature's performance art.

The sun was setting. The dark, stark trees were silhouetted against a stripy sky. The light was shining through the branches and over the rooftops, basking in the glow of me watching every last second--like little ballerinas on a school stage who smile and bow repeatedly until the heavy red velvet curtains finally swoosh closed.

You can't see them behind the velvet then, but you know perfectly well what they look like, how lovely they were with their ribboned buns and how masterfully they executed their final spins. You remember.

Good night.

TCOY
  1. Walked Sug around block once.
  2. Bike ride next to Patsy, while she ran! About 50 minutes, around and through Brookdale Park, on such a pretty day.
  3. H. and I made a healthy dinner--salmon, baked baby potatoes, steamed green veggies. [Patsy told me about a salmon topper she likes--mix mayo, good mustard--not yellow hotdog mustard--and dried dill, spread over filet, bake at 350 to 400 degrees about 15 to 20 minutes per pound or until fish flakes easily when tested in center with fork. It was great. And you can use low-fat mayo.]
  4. Private Benjamin.
  5. Work set up so I can plunge in tomorrow and be productive. I think I can, I think I can. I know I can.
