The Whitney

At the Whitney Museum, Madison & 75th St. through April 28.
Haven't been to the Whitney Museum of American Art in years--think last time was for a Jack Kerouac exhibit with H. and Figgy. But tonight I went with Sis; her colleague Nicole, a medical doctor; and Nicole's friend Sonia. It was great--after I got onto the warm DeCamp bus into NYC. I had been waiting an hour, underdressed, and the air was getting colder.

We saw a really cool exhibit called "Blues for Smoke" on the third floor. Provocative....here's how the museum describes it: "an interdisciplinary exhibition that explores a wide range of contemporary art through the lens of the blues and blues aesthetics." I highly recommend it. Jazz recordings, movie reels, more. Intriguing: The long line of blue vintage suitcases standing back to back....I have my Mom's old blue suitcase, the one she took on a trip to Cuba in the late 1940s.

I don't think you can easily forget an exhibit at the Whitney. And it's pay-what-you-wish on Friday nights--but Sis had VIP passes anyway.

FYI:
General admission: $18
Ages 19–25: $14
Ages 65 and over: $14
Full-time students: $14
Ages 18 and under: FREE   MembersFREE
Admission is pay-what-you-wish on Fridays, 6–9 pm

I'm tired now. Good night.

TCOY
  1. Boot camp in the park. Tough one. Proud I did it.
  2. Walked about 70 minutes on top of that, between walking Sug and walking in NYC. I want to get back to adding more walking to my days, even when I have boot camp.
  3. Ate my rainbow chard for lunch. Somehow feels good. Like big TCOY, but light and tasty and fresh, too.
  4. Going to Whitney with Sis and friends....and then to dinner and iced coffee.
