Stolen Moments at Chocorua Lake

H. & our baby Sug.
Lake Chocorua, New Hampshire.

I adore that puffball.
On the long [7 hour?] drive back from New Hampshire to New Jersey, we came upon Chocorua Lake on our right. So we stopped. H., Sug at his heels, walked over to read the sign about the Legend of Chocorua. I stepped into the lake for a dip up to my shins, then sat on a rock and just breathed in the beautiful mountain view. When H. and Sug returned, I got him to take his socks and shoes off and put his feet in. Sug wanted no part of it. She fears water, perhaps because we cavalierly gave her tiny self a bath when she was just a pup and the bathtub must have seemed enormous to her.

Now we're in Montclair again...I liked the way my grandparents' mahogany table looked against the window when we walked in near 8 P.M.

I also liked meeting two women named Sheila and Barbara--mother-in-law and daughter-in-law traveling together--at the Cranmore Inn in North Conway. They were playing a word game called Skip-bo. I liked Eddie, the innkeeper, who moved there from South Orange, NJ with his partner and their two cute young kids and makes jewelry. I bought a pretty pair of his drop earrings with pearl and turquoise stones for $25.

Well, good night.

TCOY
  1. Napped while H. drove and it felt good. Then I drove some, and he napped, which also felt good to me. Peace washes over me when I'm at the wheel safely driving someone I love.
  2. Have been thinking about something negative and trying to come to terms with it rather than let it immobilize me. I mulled over a couple of ideas on how to proactively avoid that guilty road.
