How can I expect that a six-year-old who has gone through all that--and I can't elaborate, to protect privacy--would not have some tough behavioral problems? How can I forget how lucky it is that she is owner, free and clear, of a resilient little smile; strong, small soul; iron will; close hugs; merry laughter; healthy appetite; and innocent childhood questioning, like What is heaven like? followed by I hope you never die. Good night.

Sending you both a hug. She's so lucky to have you.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen. But I can be an evil grouch sometimes, like this afternoon when she hid her homework folder under the couch so I couldn't see the note from the teacher. I really regret my behavior. love alice
