Ladies in Red Russian Tea Room

It felt like dinner theatre. Sis and I sat at a banquette and watched the room.
Red roses for the legendary ambiance.....the crimson banquettes, the apple-red patterned china, the polished silver tea service. But as with "21" last week, doll-sized portions seem to be the way these top restaurants are managing three-course dinners for $38. The beef we had was great but reminded me of South Beach Diet helpings. Then add on pricey Russian cocktails and tea [$10 each for tea but came with a tiny tray of buttery, button-sized cookies and a little bowl of preserved cherries] and it turns out to be a pretty expensive dinner.

Yet a memory to savor. [BTW, the regular-priced entrees I saw sailing by looked big.]

Good night.

  1. Walked all the way from Port Authority to 21st and Broadway, then all around the Plaza area. Part of my exercise involved covering the ground at Bergdorf's, too, since I was right next-door at the Plaza Food Hall. Checked out windows in progress, Beauty Level [especially hair accessories and Wolford alcove], whisked through jewelry department, handbags, fifth floor and seventh floor. Love my Bergdorf's, but it does keep changing.
  2. Big salad for lunch with my friend.
  3. Seeing my Sis.
  4. Charging my Fitbit Flex so I can wear it again and track my exercise.

  1. Kim I marvel at that. So glamorous and memorable! Did the tix cost a lot? Do they have other party rooms? Did they have Russian menu? Did the girls love it? I know their high school is great but for starstruck me this would be reason enough to go there. :)
