Memories of a Pony Party

With your friends before the party started at 3:15.

Happy 8th birthday, Punchy! Your bday is March 11 but we had the party today.--delayed due to Easter, etc. It was windy, windy up at the stable at Garret Mountain but the sun was shining and the Saturday sky was blue.

The horse balloon ribbons got tangled and Dan had to borrow a knife from a horsewoman to separate them. Those were the party favors, along with the pony cookies from Little Daisy Bake Shop on Valley Road. We were advised not to put the balloons out near the horses or they would get scared. I didn't know!

I put out a heap of sweet strawberries with the brownies--every morsel went. [Auntie came from Connecticut and helped put the candles in the brownies, etc. But we had to sing without lighting them--too windy.]

May God bless you as you trot through life, Punchy. May you stay securely in the saddle, keep your eye on the reins and the path. May you take the high road. May you always know you are loved and important, good and true. You are exactly who you should be. Don't worry about being better or prettier or more popular. May life treat you right.

Happy trails, Punchy girl.

Good night to you.

1. Support group.
2. Iced coffee.
3. Bought Pacifica brand undereye concealer and mascara at Whiole Foods. Multitasking--one-stop shopping for fruit, naan and makeup.
4. Elaine babysat from 7 to 11 tonight so we could go out to dinner in Westwood with Moey and Ted.
5. About to take lavender bath and apply beauty cream to face. So grateful that Elaine catches up on all our laundry and dishes when she's here. I tell her she doesn't have to, but she always insists. So it gives me time, space and peace to take some pampering time.

  1. I love your last paragraph… your blessing for Punchy. And wow, those horsey cookies are beautiful! I wish I lived closer so that I could help Auntie put the candles in the brownies and wish Punch a happy birthday in person, too. You and H. are such great "parents."
