Sally Field as Doris Miller. |
The movie stars Sally Field, Max Greenfield and Tyne Daly....it was good. Colorful, fun, a lot of laughs. Sally Field was great as Doris Miller, an older woman working in a younger office environment in NYC....she has a wardrobe of quirky retro clothes, head scarves, eyeglasses...and her eye on the handsome new art director....she is also a hoarder. Her mom just died and Doris had been living with/taking care of her for years.
Afterward, there was a Q&A on stage with the director and co-writer, Michael Showalter--turns out he is the son of Elaine Showalter, a women's studies/literature professor I loved at Douglass College! She brought the Brontës and their home on the moors to life in an old classroom, and I'll never forget that. Seems her son is also gifted at bringing characters to life. And IMDB says he was born in 1970....so when his mother was teaching me, he would have been about 10 or 11....I guess he was in school during her teaching hours....
Good night.
P.S. According to IMDB, Sally Field is 5 ft 2 1/2 inches and was born in Pasadena in November 1946. That would mean she is 68 years old! Incredible. She is gorgeous.
TCOY
- Boot camp in the park with my people.
- Walked home from town after dropping off car at mechanic and then back to town to get it [25 minutes each way]. Good time to contemplate. Have to check my Fitbit for step count.
- Resisted sweets at Little Daisy Bake Shop. But the shop is one of the MFF sponsors, and when I popped in on my walk home, I saw them bagging adorable cookie favors-name tags that said Hello My Name Is Doris.
