Time for Tybee

I traveled all day but then saw the payola: Beautiful white egrets alighting in the marsh as the cab carried me out to Tybee.

I can't put my finger on the atmosphere here yet, but tomorrow will be a full day of touring. I'm staying in a pretty cottage called A Mermaid's Tale and it's spacious and very nicely decorated in a beachy way, with mermaids, seashells, coral....

It would be perfect for a girlfriends' getaway, but my girlfriends aren't here!

I walked over [maybe 25 minutes round trip] to Tybee Market, aka IGA on Butler Avenue and got Triscuits, Late July Summertime Blues multigrain tortilla chips, avocados, lime, water, milk...and a bar of soap and deodorant. Found it interesting to see hush puppies breading mix and crab boil seasoning at the end of an aisle. It's a small store, its selection edited down--reminded me of the general store [next to the post office] in North Eastham on Cape Cod. When traveling, I always like to scope out brands and products we don't have back home.

It's muggy here near Savannah and the air was heavy with honeysuckle*** as the sun was setting.

Tired now. Good night.

***Oops, I was wrong. Found out the morning after that what I smelled was jasmine....so lovely. But leaving my mistake with this correction below. I'm not a Southerner....my knowledge base is Cape Cod! Now I know.
