By 3, we headed to Chatham, about 30 minutes away. I love the way the beach at Chatham Bars cradles you in its beauty--deep blue sea, sandbars in the distance.
The two specks in the sand, second photo from top, are H. and Punchy digging a pool edged with seaweed. He has done so much with her--including mini golf at the Red Barn on Route 6 tonight. He always did these things with Figgy, too.
I also loved the materialistic beauty of Chatham--the In the Pink Lilly Pulitzer store [big sale] and right across the street, under a pink awning, the Chatham Candy Manor. In other pink sightings: the classic Cape roses against a clean white fence.
On the way to Chatham, we stopped at assisted living to see our friend Bob, the old Cape Codder and good fellow I just visited June 14. But we learned he died before July. I wish I'd known. Rite & Bob shaped my life in some important ways. Sad he's gone and glad I told him I loved him in June. They had no children. Rite & Bob, I'm glad you are together again in Heaven. I will always cherish the fun we had on the Cape, with my parents, Sis, H., Figgy and Sugar. May you find beautiful nature paths in the sky; you both loved walking at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
Good night Chatham. Good night Bob.
