A dear friend just gave me this book, and I love it. The idea is to take 20 minutes of quiet time daily [I set the timer on my iPhone] and fill in a shape with "repetitive patterns or doodles." It creates time for meditation and mindfulness.
And I love this part in the note from the author, Meera Lee Patel:
Being present in my everyday life has been a continuing challenge for me, and the caveat for developing a daily meditation practice. Through this practice, I've developed mindfulness, a trait that has taught me to calm my inner critic, quiet the insecurities that tug at me, and prioritize the vital parts of my life. With mindfulness comes self-awareness, which can lead to surprising discoveries: some of the darkest and most clandestine places within us are found during meditation. Coming to terms with these truths and learning to row through the rough waters is difficult but necessary, and essentially beautiful.
Learning to row through the rough waters! Brilliant!!! [Note to my friend Kim: This reminds me of what you have written about daily meditation.]
Good night to you.

- Daily Zen.
- Ice water.
- Lots of Pete Seeger playing on my laptop. Love his folksy music.
- Going to bed soon; 8 a.m. yoga & meditation class.
Ah...I've written about it, but have yet to incorporate it in my life in any significant way. But I still have hope to do so and I think it can be an excellent practice.
