Beautiful Things

Snaps from the afternoon Punch & I spent at Bartlett's Greenhouses & Florist on Grove Street in Clifton. Today was an early dismissal schoolday, so we were with our friends Nancy, Marietta, Marta, Michael and cat Chanel for almost 2 hours, from 3 to 5 p.m. They kindly let Punchy help out a little bit. And I ordered a gorgeous basket for our boot camp friend who lost his mom--we all chipped in. Good night.

Valentine beauty: Silver-glitter trimmed roses in a vase full of Kisses.

 Floral designer Marta with Punchy.

 A gorgeous rainbow-dipped rose.

The big basket I ordered to have delivered to our friend.

  1. H. and I got married 26 years ago today. We went out for a special dinner, just the two of us, with BYOB red wine, Italian food, shared tiramisu and coffee. We talked about funny and happy memories over the years--like the time I was doing a phone interview in my sun room office and he came in quietly, holding a banana like a phone and acting like he was talking. I had to hold back a burst of laughter. And we talked about other times, on the Cape, in NY, at home.
  2. Got healthy groceries: tofu, bananas, wheat bread, PB, skim milk, veg burgers, roasted peanuts--and ingredients to make hazelnut biscotti.
  3. Visiting the flower shop was like a tonic, because of the lovely people and the lovely blooms: tulips, thistle, roses, pussy willows, even gorgeous quince branches.
