My friend Anne gave me a ticket! Hillary was here for book signing. I almost cried when I shook her hand and said Thank you for being such a great role model.
Well, thank you for saying that, she replied.
And then, whisked along the line by reps and Secret Service, I started quietly sobbing, moved by the great strides she has taken for all of us. I thought of my grandmothers, no right to vote until 1920. Hillary made history and I was so honored to be among the thousand ticket holders [plus kids] who met her today.
That's my friend Anne. Zoom in to see Hillary at table behind her.
That's me wearing security wristbands.
Busy day tomorrow. Gnite.

I would have choked up too. So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! And emotional! I am currently reading "What Happened" too. (I also choked up in the first chapter.) You are so lucky to have met her...

ReplyDeleteHi Nan and Lin and Kim. Thanks! It really was momentous, I must say! I am so grateful my friend invited me, as I was not in the 1000 people who got tickets before cutoff. We all filed through on a line, had to go through metal detector, get patted down, etc. .....xo Alice
ReplyDeleteAww, Alice, I'm sure you were not the only person who cried! I would have!
ReplyDeleteYes yes my friend. It was moving!!!!!
