NYC’s Electricity

I drove my friends R. and J. into the city for a screening of Out of My Head, a compelling documentary about migraine. R. has suffered from relentless migraines for many years and her good husband, J., has been an immense support. Check the link: http://outofmyheadfilm.com/. It was written and directed by Susanna Styron and produced by Jacki Ochs and we met them both tonight, along with Emma Larson, Susanna’s poised daughter, who suffered from migraine and sparked--and appears in--the film. [I interviewed Susanna and Jacki this summer on the phone from my kitchen for Brain & Life Magazine.]

Walking back to our free parking spot on Columbus and 69th Street, I got a decaf cappuccino to go from bustling Cafe Fiorello, with outside seating across from Lincoln Center. I’ve eaten there twice, and it’s delicious. The coffee fell short in that tall cup [rather than small cup and saucer] but it was perfection at a steep $5.99 plus $1 tip.

Good night, New York. Photos:

  1. Great outing - seeing friends, supporting a creative endeavor, learning something. Was an animal working yesterday and feeling stale and uninteresting, so happy to read this!

    1. Working like an animal...some days are like that, and it’s hard. Animal, or robot, or machine. TGIF. Saw The Wife.... golden.
