- My name is Alice and I've been writing for most of my life--first, in a little green five-year diary my friend Lorraine gave me for Christmas in 6th grade, then for newspapers, magazines, websites and companies. I've been blogging here, often daily, since Feb. 2010, trying hard to write truthfully, even when it's scary. My husband and I are both freelance writers, so sometimes we can afford salmon for dinner and sometimes we can't. We have two daughters, one (blog name Figgy) an artist and biologist studying cyanobacteria algae and one teenager to whom we are legal guardians (blog name Punch/Skippy). It’s been a lovely late spring , but heat and humidity returned this weekend with a vengeance. No big explosions, but pretty grumpy at my house. Happy Monday!

Ugh....exactly. And I despise heat and humidity. I find the combination exhausting, and leaving me craving an ice-cold movie theater. Today I met my Sis in NYC for her dr appt and checked in w Dan, who is getting Punch at 6:30 p.m. after an activity. I am sitting in the cold comfort of Grand Central right now, working. I hope you have good AC at work and that all goes well with your family visits. Love, Alice
